Pemling
Situated at an altitude of around 4,000 ft, Pemling is a small pristine hamlet in Kalimpong sub-division belongs to Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. This place is at a distance of around 43 kms from Mal Bazar Junction, 82 kms and 38 kms from Siliguri, Kalimpong respectively. The name Pemling derived from a Leptcha word ‘Pyong Ling’ – a kind of bamboo, which grows in this region in a large number. Some says Pemling means the beautiful flower ‘Lotus’.
The beautiful village Pemling is encircled by undulating hills and forest. This small picturesque village has around 232 habitats. Most of them are belonging to the Nepali, Leptcha and Tamang community. Local people are quite friendly, welcoming and hospitable. They always ready to welcome guests with their smiling faces. This place has started an eco-tourism initiative recently. As part of this initiative home stays as well as other projects like organic farming has started. The main produce of this region is Cardamom, Broomstick and Orange.

Juge waterfall: Hidden in the heart of the forest, Juge waterfall is a very thrilling waterfall at Pemling. It will take about 3 kms drive by
a vehicle through the rolling hilly path and then involves a walk along a trail for about 50 minutes to reach to the beautiful Juge falls in the deep verdant forest of Darjeeling Hills. Trekking to this falls would be unforgettable. The trail through deep green mysterious forest is pretty steep as well. But the rewards can be plenty. Extreme silence of that place only breaks by the gushing sound of the falls and the chirping of amazing Himalayan birds. One can mesmerize with the harmony and splendor of emerald virgin forest. Both sides of the trekking trail are adorned with beautiful wild flowers, bright green broom sticks bushes and different kinds of Ferns is also a treat to watch. The falls is drizzling onto the rocks joyfully from a height with crashing sound and flowing through the forest to meet the Rion River.

Orange garden: Pemling offers a magnificent view of orange orchards during October to December. At that time, the orchards ornamented with vibrant colored orange fruits. Hence the view of the orange gardens is appealing during this period.
Dalapchand Village: Situated in the close proximity of Pemling, Dalapchand is a beautiful charming village encircled with rolling hills. The village and the small river, the hill, the green-fields and the blue sky make a combination that one feels something out of the world. The river named “Ghishkhola” is flowing gently and the cardamom fields are all around. One can just spend the time sitting beside the river bed by listening to the gushing sound of the river or dip the feet in the cold water. The chattering of the birds in the green trees is creating a harmony in the ears. To the tourist this is truly amazing feelings to witness a natural scenery that could exist only in our imagination. The natural scenery is in such a way which is only possible in an artist’s picture. The blue sky seems very nearer to the horizon and the vast green all around make one feel like visiting in a fairy land.
Gumba Dara: Gumba Dara is a natural gumba situated between Pemling and Dalapchand. It is believed by the local people that a lama had meditated in this gumba. Suddenly he vanished. Now only ruins are remained. There is another gumba at Pemling belongs to Leptcha and Tamang community. Both are worth visiting.
Charkhole: This is another small attractive village located around 10 kms. from Pemling. This place is a preeminent romantic escape newly added in offbeat tourist destination map in Darjeeling district. This place provides an absolute 360 degree view of Mt. Kanchenjungha and other snowy peaks from the mountain top of Charkhole Hill. The dense forest of tall Pine, Oak, Fir, Cypras trees, colorful blooming Rhododendrons, the charming tune of various multicolored birds, gentle breeze will accompany throughout the journey towards Charkhole. Pabung: Located around 14 kms downhill from Pemling, Pabung is another off-beat tourist destination in Darjeeling district. This is a small charming serene village located on the lap of Himalaya with the majestic views of Mt. Kanchenjungha. Beautiful mountains, carpeted green valleys, winding trail through the lush green valleys, bright green Cardamom plantations, absolutely pollution free air and heavenly calmness are what distinguish the place. Enthusiasts’ tourist can enjoy nature trails along the charming green forest with a variety of colorful birds and flora.
Kalimpong: Situated around 42 kms from Pemling, Kalimpong is another beautiful hill station, which attracts a lot of tourist. A journey to Kalimpong would take the tourists to a heavenly hill station in the lap of the majestic Himalayas. Here, the undulating emerald ridges at the foothills of the Himalayas are a charming bliss. The twisty River Teesta, which separates Kalimpong from the state of Sikkim, gushes in the valley below.

Lava: Situated at an altitude of 7,016 feet, among the dense forests of Oak, Pine, Birch, Juniper and Fir trees, Lava is a small serene misty hamlet in Darjeeling district. For its proximity to the Neora Valley National Park and its beautiful view of the Jelep La and Rache La passes, Lava has obtained popularity among the tourists. From Pemling the route to Lava is picturesque and charming as it goes through the dense virgin forest. Oak, Pine, Birch, Juniper and Fir trees welcome the visitors at Lava.
